Bais Chabad Hebrew High
• School has begun registration
for its 1992-1993 school year.
The high school, part of the
Bais Chabad of West Bloom-
field Torah Center, is open to
all Jewish students and
meets weekday nights in the
• Torah Center.
The courses include Jewish
history, the weekly Torah por-
, tion, Mishnah and Hebrew
language. The school, for day
school and public school
graduates, offers flexible class
schedules and a professional
teaching staff. The first
-semester runs from
September through January.
The director of programming
is Rabbi Elimelech Silber-

Rabbi Silberberg will
, deliver a lecture on "Grace
After Meals — Practical Ap-
plications And Mystical In-
sights" 8:15 p.m. Aug. 17 at

To Be Honored
Menasche Haar will receive
the Distinguished Humani-
tarian Service Award of the
American Red Magen David
for Israel at the Dr. John J.
Mames Chapter-Michigan
Region's annual dinner 7 p.m.
Sept. 16 at Adat Shalom
Synagogue.
Mr. Haar was born in
Galicia then moved to Berlin.
He and his late wife Sara
came to Detroit with their
two daughters in 1939. His
involvement in the Detroit
Jewish community, including
his active membership at
Congregation Beth Abraham
Hillel Moses, has spanned 50
years. Menasche Haar served
as president of both Con-
gregation Beth Hillel and
Beth Abraham and played an
integral role in the merger of
- the three synagogues.
Menasche Haar was honored
by the State of Israel in 1973
for his lifelong efforts on
behalf of Israel Bonds. He is
a charter member of the
Holocaust Memorial Center
and is a supporter of ORT,
Hillel Day School and JARC.
