Mames Chapter-Michigan Region's annual dinner 7 p.m. Sept. 16 at Adat Shalom Synagogue. Mr. Haar was born in Galicia then moved to Berlin. He and his late wife Sara came to Detroit with their two daughters in 1939. His involvement in the Detroit Jewish community, including his active membership at Congregation Beth Abraham Hillel Moses, has spanned 50 years. Menasche Haar served as president of both Con- gregation Beth Hillel and Beth Abraham and played an integral role in the merger of - the three synagogues. Menasche Haar was honored by the State of Israel in 1973 for his lifelong efforts on behalf of Israel Bonds.
