singles over 35 to a kallah
(gathering) Sept. 18-20 at the
Hyatt Regency Chicago.
Singles from 17 states are
invited.
The weekend will include
social activities, workshops,
Shabbat services and time to
explore Chicago.
Scholar-in-residence for the
weekend will be Dr. Deborah
E. Lipstadt, adjunct professor
of religion and Jewish studies
at Occidental College in
California, and director of
research at the Skirball In-
stitute on American Values,
an arm of the American
JeWish committee.
Cost is $150 per person,
which includes hotel accom-
modations and most meals. In
addition, a minimum of $250
contribution to the 1993
Jewish United Fund-Israel
Emergency Fund campaign,
or the participant's local
Jewish federation, is
required.

a seminar on charitable giv-
ing through life insurance,
8:15 a.m., Aug. 11, at the Max
M. Fisher Building.
Sponsored by the Insurance
Advisory Committee of the
Federated Endowment Fund
of the Jewish Federation of
Metropolitan Detroit, the pro-
gram will focus on a special
life insurance program which
allows donors to turn modest
gifts into large endowments,
how insurance professionals
can help ensure the com-
munity's future and ways to
create endowments.
The seminar will feature
James A. Jacobs, a Certified
Life Underwriter and
Chartered Financial Consul-
tant; attorney Michael Mad-
din, chairman of the
Federated Endowment Fund
and its Insurance Advisory
Committee; and Dr. Conrad
Giles, chairman of the Jewish
Federation's Executive
Committee.
