dedicated to the late Loretto
(--- (Chef Larry) Pagliara, his
- -first corporate chef, with
thanks to many members of
Chuck's culinary team here
and in other cities, com-
memorating the company's
25th anniversary.
His cookbook has a lot of
good things for the kitchen
. . . easily arranged and very
well adapted to offer the mak-
ing of delicious goodies in the
simplest way possible.
Plus the splendid cover-to-
cover array of excellent
recipes from appetizers to
soups to entrees to desserts to
side dishes and so much more,
The Simply Great! Cookbook
is a reflection of love by
Chuck . . . telling how he got
into the restaurant business
and an interesting and detail-
ed history of his fine C. A.
Muer chain.
Like the training manual
Chuck Muer has had since
the beginning, his cookbook
also rates as one of the best.
CONGRATS . . . to Ray
Goldbaum . . . on his 61st
birthday.

because of it . . . Al Nettle,
owner with Ron Eddy and
Howard LaLone, says a lot of
people never knew there was
a barber shop there.

to the lake, a second onto a
highway and a third into the
woods . . . "Why don't you use
an old ball?" the caddy asked.
The duffer replied, "I've never

LOOKING BACK on col-
umns of yesteryears .. .
Feb. 18, 1949 ... "Jacob
Halperin, at the newsstand
on the corner of State and
Shelby, has a customer who
always buys two of the same
papers to read on the 14th
Street bus going home . . .
Finally, Jacob asked him
what he does with the extra
papers . . . and the fellow
replied, 'I give them to the
people next to me so I can
read my papers without hav-
ing to worry about turning
the pages for fear they haven't
finished yet.' "
Aug. 8, 1975 ... "A pilot
friend of IRS agent Ernie

going got bumpy, then stroll
through the cabin with a
book under his arm . . . The
title, which he kept prom-
inently displayed, was How
To Fly In 10 Lessons. ❑
