head-scratching stumper.
CONGRATS . . . to Lenny
and Carol Moss . . . on their

BACK IN 1973 while Ray
Abrams was president, Tem-
ple Beth El changed from
Men's Club to Brotherhood
. Many people on the out-
side thought it was a separate
organization . . . only know-
ing the term Men's Club.
Although the name was at
first a bit strange sounding, it
is now well accepted . . . and
the recent installation of of-
ficers was another fine Thrn-
ple Beth El Brotherhood
happening.
One-hundred ten people at-
tended as Iz Malin became
the 60th president of the
Men's Club and Brotherhood
. . . Dinner was again by the
fine Brotherhood Cuisine
Committee of Dr. Burt
Fogelman, who was in for a
surprise during the evening;
Larry Coe, Dr. Jerry Geren-
raisch, Marshall Hersh, Don
Krause and Jim Shapiro .. .
The surprise for Burt was an
emotional moment as he was
presented the much-coveted
Robert Rosenbush Award for
exemplary service to Temple
Beth El by Rabbi Emeritus
Richard Hertz.
Outgoing president of the
Brotherhood, Earl Remer and
wife Jackie have a family
chain of interesting mar-
riages . . . Son Eric is a den-
tist married to Dr. Erica Heft;
another son, Dr. Steven, is
married to Dr. Dana Remer;
and their daughter Michele
and husband Howard Davis
are both interior decorators.
Mamie Tichton has been
teaching music to Temple
Beth El youngsters almost 50
years . . . Iz joined wife Fran
and daughter Elaine Schon-
berger in taking installation
pictures . . . Bea Dickstein
celebrated her 85th birthday
. . . It's still 50 years of mar-
riage celebration for Flo and
Frank Winton . . . Grand-
mother and Granddaughter
team served the Brotherhood
Cuisine Committee offerings
. . . Helen Witkowski, 12
years at the Temple, and
Marge Thomas.

SCOTT'S DEPT . . . "It's a
big congratulations to my for-
mer teacher at Pepper School
in Oak Park, Frances Wein-
berg, on her 80th birthday.
Mrs. Weinberg retired in 1977
after teaching 30 years and
now lives at the Franklin
Club Apartments. When able,
she gives book reviews for the
other residents. Would be
great if all us ex-students of
hers would send birthday
cards: Frances Weinberg,
28301 Franklin Road, South-
field, MI. 48034. A big week-
end celebration is planned for
June 26 with family coming
in from Dallas, Boston, Col-
orado and New York City."
STORY IS TOLD of
parents with college-age kids
. . . but not all of them are
sure it's a joke . . . The mother
of a recently married
daughter met a friend, who
asked about the newlyweds
. . . "Oh, they're so happy!"
exclaimed the mother. "They
just got back from a month in
Bermuda, and they're moving
into a new apartment. She's
getting new furniture for it,
and as soon as they're settled,
they're buying a new car." .. .
"My," said the friend, "your
son-in-law certainly must be
doing well." . . . "Indeed he
is," said the mother. "He's get-
ting straight A's."
Chuck Muer's seafood and Johnny Magnum's beef
" Generous portions, delicious, and a good value for the money.
Service is in the true Muer tradition of excellence."

IF YOUR YOUNGSTERS
are like the normal, they
dearly love receiving presents
but hate having to write
thank-you letters . . . Local
lad got around to thanking an
uncle just last week for a gift
he had received in January
. . . "I'm sorry I didn't thank
you for my present, and it
would serve me right if you
forgot my birthday next
Thursday."
Number one for socializing, entertaining
and special occasion dining.
" Best of all I like being treated like a big fish
in a not so small-pond."
