Federation Seminar
On Management

The Jewish Federation of
Metropolitan Detroit's 5th
annual Professional Manage-
ment Conference, titled "Life
in the Fast Lane," is set for
May 15 at Temple Israel.
The half-day conference,
which will focus on change,
empowerment and competing
agendas, begins at 8:30 a.m.
with registration and con-
tinental breakfast and con-
cludes after lunch.
Richard Joel, international
director of the B'nai B'rith
Hillel Foundation, will
deliver the keynote address
about meeting the challenges
within the Jewish communi-
\, ty's network of agencies and
services. He also will lead a
seminar on management in
an environment of change.
Mr. Joel oversees the
largest Jewish campus
organization in the world,
which reaches out to some
400,000 Jewish students on
more than 400 university and
college campuses.

r Receives Funds

The Food Bank of Oakland
County has received program
funds totalling $20,670 from
the United Way of Oakland
County. The funds, from
volunteer contributions to the
United Way of Oakland Coun-
ty, will help the Food Bank
continue . to supply 80
emergency food pantries,
shelters and soup kitchens.
While the Food Bank sup-
plies its food to agencies, it is
able to refer the needy to the
nearest emergency food pro-
vider. Call the Food Bank,

Machon Plans
Lunch Conference

Machon L' Torah will hold a
lunch time conference noon
May 20 at the Clara Ford
Pavilion of the Henry Ford
Hospital Clinic Bldg., Room
236. The program will focus
on "Sustaining Life/Prolong-
ing Death?: an Overview on
Jewish Medical Ethics."
The lecture will be led by
Rabbi Elimelech Goldberg of
Young Israel of Southfield; a
question and answer session
will follow. The program is
geared for health profes-
sionals. There is a fee for
lunch.
