Doug Cotler
Temple Emanu-EI
Hosts Concert
A concert in celebration of
the congregation's 40th an-
niversary will take place 7
p.m. May 17 at Temple
Emanu-El. "Steppin' Out On
Broadway" will be presented
by the Adult Choir under the
direction of Cantor Norman
Rose and by the Youth Choir,
directed by Euni Tracey Rose,
and will feature the composer,
arranger and performer,
Doug Cotler.
Show tunes from the '50s-
'90s comprise the lifespan of
Temple Emanu-El. The choral
presentations will be punc-
tuated by Mr. Cotler's rendi-
tions of his own songs and of
several standards.
Doug Cotler is cantorial
soloist at Shir Chadash — the
New Reform Congregation in
Woodland Hills, Calif. In
1984, he received a Grammy
Award for his work on the
soundtrack of the motion pic-
ture Flashdance. He has com-
posed and performed for
many television programs.
Doug Cotler's music corn-
bines Jewish, pop, rock, and
classical textures.
Tickets for the concert are
available from the synagogue
office. For information, call
the temple office, 967-4020.
