Honors Wolpe
Howard Wolpe will be
honored by the Jewish Na-
tional Fund at a dinner 6 p.m.
June 1 at the Radisson Plaza
Hotel at Kalamazoo Center.
Dinner co-chairs are Dr.
Theodore Cooper, the Upjohn
Company; Dr. Kevin M.
Fickenscher, MSU-KCMS;
George A. Franklin, the
Kellogg Company; Beverly
Moore, mayor, Kalamazoo;
and Steven D. Pettiford,
General Motors Corporation.
At the dinner, Congressman
Wolpe will receive JNF's
highest honor, the Tree of Life
Award, given in recognition of
outstanding community in-
volvement and dedication to
the cause of American-Israeli
friendship and devotion to
peace and the security of
human life.
Congressman Wolpe, who
has represented Michigan's
Third Congressional District
since 1978, is one of the
leading environmentalists in
the U.S. Congress. He is
chairman of the subcommit-
tee on investigations and
oversight of the House
Science, Space and
Technology Committee. He
also serves on both the
Energy and the Environment
subcommittees of the Science
Committee. Mr. Wolpe is co-
chair of the Democratic
Caucus Task Force on En
vironment and Energy and
serves as a member of
GLOBE, Global Legislators
Organization for a Balanced
Environment.
