THE SIFICCIRPIE

OF IT BY BARBARA PASH

f you've always wanted to be a cow-
girl, this is your season. If all those
dance classes you took as a kid
didn't turn you into a world fa-
mous ballerina, this spring
you can look like one any-
how. If you'd rather take the
sexpot route, that, too, is
an option.
Spring 1992 fashions focus on fan-
tasy and fun. Designers here and
abroad have tried to satisfy every-
one, and the result is a gamut of
trends. Some of them are controversial;
many require a well-toned, aerobic bocl
and/or the willingness to be daringly
revealing.
Still, even if you don't/won't wear
them, you're undoubtedly inter-
ested in knowing what they are. This
spring, the major trends are (drum-
roll, please)...

SNAPPY SHORTS: Bermuda shorts with matching
tops are a popular alternative to pantsuits. The
shorts outfits can be all-business tailored or, like
this Escada combination, comfortably casual.

PANTSUITS: "Witty and wonderful" judges the
fashion press of Ralph Lauren's men's suits for
women. Impeccably tailored jackets are shown
with crisp white shirts, silk ties and pocket
squares, and cuffed, English-cut trousers.
