Hosts Trio
The New Rose Trio will be
the guest artists at a meeting
of the Music Study Club of
Metropolitan Detroit 3 p.m.
March 22 at the Birmingham
Temple.
The trio members are
violinist Tamara Goldfaden,
cellist Irina Tikhonova and
pianist Marina Zarkhin. Ms.
Goldfaden has been a per-
former in the Detroit area for
several years. Ms. Tikhonova
and Ms. Zarkhin recently
emigrated from the former
Soviet Union.
Before coming to the United
States, Irina Tikhona held
the position of assistant prin-
cipal cellist of the State Sym-
phony Orchestra of Radio and
Television in Kiev. In addi-
tion, she performed with
various chamber groups.
Marina Zarkhin was the
solo pianist with the Len-
ingrad State Philharmonic
Society for seven years. A
teacher, she also accompanied
the violin, cello, flute and
trumpet classes.
The New Rose Trio will per-
form the theme and varia-
tions movement of the
Tchaikovsky Piano Trio and
the allegro movement of the
Mozart Piano Trio K 564.
Prior to performing, Ms. Gold-
faden will discuss elements in
the music.
