Meadow Brook Theatre and
Music Festival will present
storyteller Jackie Ibrrence in
a performance for children 11
a.m. Feb. 29 at Meadow Brook
Theatre on the campus of
Oakland University near
Rochester.
Seating is reserved. Tickets
are available at the Meadow
Brook box office, 377-3300.
Ms. Torrence overcame a
childhood speech impediment
and started telling stories in
1972 as part of her job as a
librarian. She has six award-
winning albums, three award-
winning television shows.
The performance will last
about one hour and is not
recommended for children
under age three. Doors will
open at 10:30 a.m.
Cranbrook P.M. will spon-
sor a lecture on "The
Challenge of the Dead Sea
Scrolls" with Dr. Stephen
Bertman, professor of classics,
University of Windsor, 7:30
p.m. March 5.
In this slide-illustrated
presentation, Dr. Bertman
will discuss this sensa-
tional discovery in biblical ar-
chaeology. The talk will be at
Cranbrook House Library,
380 Lone Pine Road; there is
a charge.

the Smith Theatre on the
campus of Oakland Com-
munity College, Orchard
Ridge Campus, Farmington
Hills, in a concert for children
ages 2-8 and the young at
heart.
With Marc will be puppet
friend Max the Moose. The
concert will feature songs
from Marc's album "Max The
Moose" and new material.

show.

Airs Documentary
"Spirits of the Present: The
Legacy from North America,"
radio's first documentary
series to celebrate the diverse
cultures of Native America,
will premiere on Michigan
Radio Fridays 12:30 p.m.
beginning March 6. The
series will look at the life of
today's Indians — their
wisdom and humor, art and
music, economics and educa-
tion, religion and politics.
Hosted by actress Tantoo
Cardinal, with original music
by singer-songwriter Buffy
Sainte-Marie, the 30-minute
programs will air for 13 con-
secutive weeks, as part of "lb-
day's World."
Michigan Radio, a listener-
supported broadcast service of
the University of Michigan,
can be heard in Ann Arbor on
WYOM, 91.7 FM, in Grand
Rapids on WVGR 104.1 FM,
and in Flint on WFUM, 91.1
