everybody given gifts of color-

dars, balloons galore, cabbage
leaves with dollar bills hang-
ing everywhere for the lion-
dragon to "eat."
Very different dishes at
both Hunan Palace and Pearl
City bordered on the in-
teresting and authentic.
MUCH-AWAITED reunion
for ex-Woodhull Lake-ites is
July 25 at Mitch's II . . .
Several hundred calls to at-
tend have already been
received . . . but positive
reservations won't be taken
until April . . . The committee
is made up of Sally (Joseph)
Saginaw, Shirley (Zack)
Schram, Virginia (Wider)
Sharkey and Betty (Karp) and
Avery Shapiro.

cus day is March 25 with the
gents headed by Sonny Golds-
tein taking 1,100 youngsters
this year . . . Circus is March
13-29 . . . Bob Seeley, pianist
19 years at Charleys' Crab on
Crooks, was the only
American pianist featured at
the prestigious annual boogie
and stride festival in Paris .. .
Bob began at the original
Charley's Crab site on Pine
Lake and plays Tuesday
through Saturday, 7 to 11.
LOOKING BACK on col-
umns of yesteryears .. .
June 7, 1946 . . . "Looking
back when the private empty-
ing garbage on the boat going
over turned out to be Sidney
Barron's brother Harold, who
later wrote home, 'Sid never
looked better in all my life!' "
April 24, 1970 . . . "Little
Carol Ann Meyers, 5 years
old, was busy ironing her dol-
ly's new gown on a recent
Saturday afternoon . . . Her
grandmother, Mrs. Minnie
Bellinson, pointed out, 'Don't
you know it's a sin to do any
work on Shabbos?' . . . Carol
Ann looked up and calmly
answered, 'Sure, Grandma,
but God knows that this little
iron ain't hot!"
May 1, 1970 . . . "While in
Italy, Jules Fayne noticed a
couple by the famous Trevi
Fountain . . . The couple
couldn't speak English, but
Jules used his hands to ask if
he could assist in taking a pic-
ture of the two with their
camera . . . last week, in the
mail from Rome came a
beautiful silk tie with a
thank you note in Italian
which he had translated .. .
`We looked so good together
that we got married!' "
May 8, 1970 . . . "Michael
Goodman saw a small boy
standing on the front steps of
a house, trying to reach the
doorbell . . . The lad stood on
tip-toe and even jumped as
high as he could, but was
unable to reach the bell .. .
Getting out of his car enroute
to a Center Theater meeting,
Michael went up the steps,
rang the bell for him and
said, 'Well, young man, what
now?' . . . 'I don't know what
you're going to do, mister, the
boy answered, 'but I'm going
to run like the devil!' "
May 3, 1945 . . . "While
both were at Michigan State
College last year, and Her-
man Leon was leaving for ser-
vice, he promised to call Carol
Waterstone that same day
