Living Costs
Up Slightly
Tel Aviv (JTA) — Israel's
cost-of-living index inched
up only 0.4 percent in Oc-
tober, the lowest rise for Oc-
tober in 33 years and the
lowest for any month since
December 1990.
The figures, released by
the Central Bureau of
Statistics reflected the
downward readjustment of
housing and construction
costs.
The adjustments balanced
increases in the costs of most
other items.
The Central Bureau said
inflation is currently runn-
ing at an annual rate of 20
percent. With the October
figure, the price index
stands at 207.1 on a 1987
baseline of 100.
