LaMed Endowment
Will Aid Students

Esther LaMed has endow-
ed scholarship funds at the
Agency for Jewish Edu-
cation for students who plan
to participate in Project
Discovery or the March of
the Living.
The two programs are for
high school students. Project
Discovery allows Detroit
area students to study for a
semester in Israel. March of
the Living brings Jewish
students from around the
world to Holocaust sites in
Poland, and to Israel.
Mrs. LaMed and her late
husband Louis have been ac-
tive in the Zionist commun-
ity and in 1940 established a
literary foundation to
stimulate Hebrew and
Yiddish writing. The United
Hebrew Schools auditorium
is named in their honor.
Students interested in Pro-
ject Discovery or the March
of the Living programs or
the LaMed scholarships can
call Ofra Fisher at the AJE,
354-1050.
