Press) has short poems
celebrating the fun, customs
and origin of Chanukah. Ages
4-7 will sit still for this
delightful book.
Happy Hanukkah Rebus by
David A. Adler (Viking
Kestrel) is a definite "lap
book." The story of Chanukah
is told for 3-8 year olds in
rebus form.
Hanukkah Songs and
Games Activity Book by Don
Cooper (Random) includes a
cassette tape for ages 3-6. The
cassette has 10 sing-along
Chanukah songs, both new
and traditional, including the
blessings.
For young readers of school
age, recommended Chanukah
books include:
A Picture Book of Hanuk-
kah by David A. Adler (Holi-
day House). A simple retell-
ing of the dramatic
Chanukah story makes this a
good one to read alone or read
aloud to 5-8 year olds.
The Eight Nights: A
Chanukah Counting Book
(UAHC) has a rhyme cele-
brating each of the Chanukah
nights.
We Celebrate Hanukkah by

read language.
My Very Own Chanukah by

young children and their
families. Intended primarily
for children 5-10 years old,

pre-schoolers, will find it
interesting. This book is an
attempt to shift the emphasis
of Chanukah from gifts to
Jewish tradition, history and
values.

Around: A Hanukkah Tale by

Marilyn Hirsh (Bonim Books)

set in a 19th century eastern

the title promises.

Yossi Asks the Angels for
Help by Miriam Chaikin

warm, humorous, but this
time modern Chanukah
story. Yossi, the oldest child in

he planned to use for his lit-
tle sister's present.
There's No Such Thing As a
Chanukah Bush, Sandy Gold-
stein by Susan Sussman
(Whitman). Robin is having a
rough time. Not only does the
fourth-grade spend an entire
day making Christmas or-
naments, singing Christmas
carols and watching a
Christmas movie, but Sandy
Goldstein's family has a
"Chanukah Bush." Robin
wants one too.
