Director of the Shirley & Arthur Whizin Center and the Shirley &
Arthur Whizin Institute for Jewish Family Life at the University of
Judaism in Los Angeles. He is renowned for his presentations on
how to make Jewish holidays and ritual come alive for families.

Young Judaea
Sets Convention

The Hadassah-sponsored
Young Judaea Fall Conven-
tion Camp Ohio in St.
Louisville, Ohio, will be held
Nov. 22-24.
Cost of the convention will
be $80 which will include all
costs for the weekend. Ap-
plicants need not have
previous experience with
Young Judaea or other
Zionist movements. Member-
ship in this movement is
available to all youth of all
Jewish denominational
backgrounds and is com-
plimentary to other Jewish
. organization experience. To
encourage pluralism, Shab-
bat will be observed and all
food served will be kosher.
Detroit delegates for this
regional convention will meet
at noon at the Hadassah
House, 5030 Orchard Lake
Rd., West Bloomfield.

Music Competition
At Maple-Drake

The entry deadline for the
Michigan Young Musicians
Competition at the Maple-
Drake Jewish Community
Center of Metropolitan
Detroit is Dec. 9.
The entry fee is $10 and the
competition is open to junior
high and high school students
of piano, violin and cello who
are residents of Michigan.
A total of $2,000 in prize
money will be awarded to the
winners.
The competition will be
held Feb. 2 at Maple-Drake.
