Carl Levin Opens
Speakers Series

U.S. Sen. Carl Levin will
open Congregation
T'Chiyah's fall speakers
series, 7:45 p.m. Oct. 18, at
the synagogue's Greektown
location on St. Antoine.
Sen. Levin, a founding
member of the congregation,
is the first Jewish U.S.
senator from Michigan. He
was first elected to the
United States Senate in 1978
and re-elected twice. He
serves on the Armed Ser-
vices, the Small Business
and Government Affairs com-
mittees.
The speakers series is open
to the public. For information,

families at a special Shabbat
service and dinner 6 p.m. Oct.
18 at the synagogue.

Hosts Lecture

"Host -Mothers and Sur-
rogate Mothers in Jewish
Law" will be discussed by
Rabbi Morton Yolkut 8:15
p.m. Oct. 15 at the B'nai
David Institute for Adult
Education at the synagogue.
The lecture is the second in
a series entitled "Modern
Medicine and Jewish Law."
