Carl Levin Carl Levin Opens Speakers Series U.S. Sen. Carl Levin will open Congregation T'Chiyah's fall speakers series, 7:45 p.m. Oct. 18, at the synagogue's Greektown location on St. Antoine. Sen. Levin, a founding member of the congregation, is the first Jewish U.S. senator from Michigan. He was first elected to the United States Senate in 1978 and re-elected twice.
