The Friends of Afro-Asian
Institute will host a testimo-
nial dinner honoring Dulcie
Rosenfeld and U.S. District
Judge Anna Diggs Taylor 6
p.m. Sept. 12 at the Hyatt
Regency Hotel in Dearborn.
They will receive the
Menorah Award in recogni-
tion of their dedication to the
cause of social justice, better
interracial harmony and sup-
port for the Afro-Asian In-
stitute in Israel.
Mrs. Rosenfeld has worked
on every committee of the
Jewish Welfare Federation
over the last 30 years during
which time she headed the
Women's Division, was vice
president of the Federation
and now serves on the ex-
ecutive committee of the Na-
tional Council of Jewish
Federations. Her other ac-
tivities include the advisory
board of United Way, United
Community Services Budget
Committee and the Round-
table of Christians and Jews.
Judge Anna Diggs Taylor, a
graduate of Yale Law School
has served as attorney for the
Solicitor's Office, U.S. Depart-
ment of Labor, U.S. attorney,
adjunct professor of labor law
at Wayne State University
Law School and was ap-
pointed judge, United States
District Court in 1979 by
President Jimmy Carter.
The Afro-Asian Institute
trains leadership women's
and youth groups, cooperative
movements, labor unions and
educational and developmen-
tal institutions to promote
rural development, communi-
ty development and nation
building skills in Africa,
Asia, the Caribbean and the
Dulcie Rosenfeld
Pacific. At the present, par-
ticipants from 85 countries
take part in the Institute
Programs.
In April, 1986, the Institute
conducted its first workshop/
seminar specifically designed
for leaders of the black com-
munity of South Africa.
