Dorothy Mickelson,
Active In Miami

Dorothy
Tushbant
Mickelson, a former Detroiter
who helped found a major
charity in Miami, died in late
July at age 72.
A native of Detroit, Mrs.
Mickelson moved to Miami
Beach in 1951 and became in-
volved with fund-raising ef-
forts for the National
Children's Cardiac Hospital,
Big Brother/Big Sisters and
Send-A-Kid-To-Camp.
She was founding president
of Miami's The Deed Club,
which has raised millions of
dollars for ill persons.
She is survived by her son,
Arthur; daughter-in-law Lois;
daughter Cory Zervos of
Brooklyn, N.Y.; brother,
Sidney Tushbant of San
Clemente, Calif.; two grand-
children. Interment in
Florida.

Shirley Rose,
Longtime Volunteer

Shirley J. Rose, 79, of South-
field, died July 31.
Mrs. Rose was a member of
Temple Beth El, Franklin
Hills Country Club, National
Council of Jewish Women and
Womens American ORT. A
graduate in dental hygiene
from the University of
Michigan in 1932, she prac-
ticed until her marriage in
1934.
She leaves her daughters
and sons-in-law, Margery and
Everett Jassy of Scarsdale,
N.Y, Elly and Sandy Passer of
Bloomfield Hills; son and
daughter-in-law, David and
Sydney Rose of Bloomfield
Hills; sister and brother-in-
law, Lorraine and Telford
Slatkin of North Miami
Beach, Fla.; eight grand-
children; one great-grand-
child.
