Support Services
Set For Seniors

Senior citizens, persons
with a handicap or family
members who need respite or
relief from caregiving respon-
sibilities can get help from
Home Support Services. The
Oakland Livingston Human
Service Agency (OLHSA)
sponsors this non-profit ser-
vice that provides: routine
housecleaning, meal prepara-
tion, grocery shopping, laun-
dry, transportation, compa-
nionship and respite care. The
charge for these services is 10
dollars per hour and 22 cents
per mile when personal
transportation or grocery
shopping is provided.
Home Support Services is
available to persons living
throughout Oakland County.
OLHSA is a full service, non-
profit community action
agency that has over 25 years
experience assisting low-
income, older adults and per-
sons with a handicap in
Oakland and Livingston
counties. OLHSA operates
services and provides infor-
mation about many other
community resources.

Low Vision Group
Hosts Speaker

The Jewish Community
Center's Low Vision Peer
Support Group will host Dr.
Morris Mintz, Sinai Hospital
opthalmologist certified in
low vision services, 1 p.m.
Aug. 8 in the library at
Maple-Drake.
Dr. Mintz will speak on
"Current Medical Issues in
Low Vision" and respond to
questions from the group.
The Low Vision Peer Sup-
port Group meets on a mon-
thly basis, providing oppor-
tunities to share social,
educational and recreational
opportunities. The group is
coordinated by the Center
and Sinai Hospital's Vision
Rehabilitation Institute.
Transportation is available
from designated areas with
advance reservations.
