NEW ENGLAND
LOBSTER FEAST

have left something behind
besides Cats and Phantom of

the Opera."
Besides First Is Supper,
JET's new season will in-
clude Crossing Delancey,
Flight and an evening of
short plays by Murray
Schisgal.
The romantic comedy
Crossing Delancey will open
the season Sept. 11. JET will
import Sylvia Kauders from
New York to play the
character she originated in
1985 — the Bubbie.
However, JET relies on
mostly local talent.
After a one-month hiatus,
JET will return with First Is
Supper in December.
Flight, the story of a so-
cialist family living in
Rhodesia as it becomes Zim-
babwe, is the third work of
the season, beginning Feb. 5.
David Lan's play spans 50
years in the lives of the
Levines, beginning with
their flight from Communist
Russia to the revolution in
Rhodesia.
Ms. Orbach said she chose
Flight because of its dual
role.
"This serves not only as a
provocative piece, but also as
a mental exercise," Ms. Or-
bach said.
Murray Schisgal will
finish the season by taking a
poke at just about every-
thing in his one-act plays
beginning April 29.
In addition to the regular
season, JET will offer its
Festival of Staged Readings
in March. Four new, never-
produced plays will be per-
formed as works in progress
by JET actors and actresses.
A discussion between the
actors, director, audience
and playwright will follow
each performance.
Subscription and in-
dividual tickets can be pur-
chased from the Jewish
Ensemble Theatre at 788-
2900, or Ticket Master, 645-
6666.
