America's Most Wanted French Posters

he notes. As for the upstart
Fox network, Mr. Goldenson
praises its successful, sim-
ple-minded "Simpsons," the
cartoon characters who have
been heralded as the family
of the '90s.
Mr. Goldenson's own fami-
ly has been the source of one
of his most noted achiev-
ements. In the spirit of
tzedakah Mr. Goldenson and
his wife spearheaded the
founding of the United
Cerebral Palsy Association;
the couple's firstborn, a
daughter, died of the disease
at the age of 29.
If there is a message in any
of his past TV projects, says
Mr. Goldenson, it is that
messages and entertainment
don't mix.
Mr. Goldenson knows
what makes for good chem-
istry. The man who has
made news as a broad-
minded broadcaster smiles
at the success of his net-
work's news team. "Peter
Jennings," he says of ABC's
anchor, "is the Walter
Cronkite of the '90s."
And Mr. Goldenson, smack
in the middle of his ninth
decade, hurries off for yet
another meeting with the
verve and vitality of a man
years younger.
The author of "Beating the
Odds" is ready for yet an-
other gamble — and spin of
the ratings' roulette
wheel. ❑
