Resettlement Service has
been asked to participate in a
search for relatives of two
families that may currently
reside in the Detroit area.
Alexander Dvorkin, who
lives in Leningrad, Russia, is
searching for his American
relatives that previously liv-
ed in the Detroit area. His
aunt and uncle, Nisson and
Tsipa Alperovich, left Russia
in 1905 and settled in Detroit.
They are siblings of Mr.
Dvorkin's mother, Michlia
Dvorkin (maiden name
Alperovich). Tsipa
Alperovich, Mr. Dvorkin's
aunt, was in Leningrad and
visited with her Russian
relatives in 1961. She has a
son and three grandchildren
living in the Detroit area.
Nissan Alperovich, Mr. Dvor-
kin's uncle, was in Russia in
1929.
Yakov Shulman, of the
Ukraine, lives in Brooklyn,
N.Y., and is trying to locate
his cousin, Bernard
Handelman. Bernard (may
use Boruch) was last known
to reside in Detroit where he
was born in approximately
1916-17. Mr. Handelman's
parents, Israel and Riva
Leitman-Handelman, and his
two sons, Simche and Yankel,
may still be living in the
Detroit area. Mr. Shulman,
the son of Zevin Shulman and
Zlata Leitman, and his wife
Polina last communicated
with the family in 1979.
If you have any information
about these relatives or any
questions, call Lydia Kuniav-
sky at Resettlement Service,
559-4566.
