Holds Installation

LEMONY TARRAGON GRILLED FISH

1 teaspoon freeze-dried chopped chives
1/2 cup Miracle Whip salad dressing
1 teaspoon grated lemon peel
1/4 cup lemon juice
'/8 teaspoon white pepper
1 tablespoon dijon mustard
1 to 11/2 lb. halibut, salmon or sword-
2 teaspoons dried tarragon leaves,
fish fillets or steaks, 1-inch thick
crushed
Mix all ingredients except fish. Pour over fish.
Marinate in refrigerator 2 hours. Drain, reserving marinade.
Place fish on greased rack of broiler pan or grill. Broil or grill
over low coals, uncovered, on both sides until fish flakes easily
with a fork, brushing frequently with reserved marinade.
3 to 4 servings.
Prep time: 15 minutes plus marinating time
Cooking time: 15 minutes

Frieda Leemon

Na'amat USA
Names Chairman

Frieda Leemon of Detroit
and Boca Raton, Fla., has
been named national chair-
man of Na'amat USA's 32nd
National Biennial Conven-
tion, scheduled Nov. 3-13,
1991 in Jerusalem.
Ms. Leemon, who was presi-
dent from 1977 until 1981,
was also chairman of the 29th
Biennial Convention, held in
Jerusalem in 1985. Ms.
Leemon has held positions on
the boards of Jewish National
Fund, Israel Bonds, American
Zionist Federation, United
Jewish Appeal, United Israel
Appeal and on the executive
committee of the American-
Israel Public Affairs Commit-
tee. She was a delegate to
Zionist Congresses, beginn-
ing in 1978, and has served
on the General Zionist Coun-
cil Actions Committee.
This year's convention will
be the third biennial conven-
tion of Na'amat USA to be
held in Israel. The organiza-
tion is celebrating the 65th
anniversary of its founding
this year.

Na'amat Council
Slates Luncheon

Na'amat USA, Greater
Detroit Council, will hold its
annual spiritual adoption
luncheon noon, July 25 at
Congregation Beth Achim.
Community leadership
awards will be presented to
three honorees: Paul D. Bor-
man, immediate past presi-
dent of the Jewish Communi-
ty Council; Jeannie Weiner,
recently installed president of
the Jewish Community Coun-
cil; and Doris Biscoe, Channel
7 anchor.
Edith Margolis, Midwest
area coordinator, Na'Amat
USA, will be the speaker.
A minimum donation to the
spiritual adoption program is
required and there is a charge
for the luncheon. For informa-
tion, call the Council,
967-4750.

Officers were installed at
the 45th installation lun-
cheon of the B'nai B'rith
Women Council at Adat
Shalom Synagogue.
Libbie Zalenko was install-
ed as president along with
Shirley Baker, Norma
Gorosh, Elaine Meyers, vice
presidents; Bertha Fischer,
treasurer; and Lillian Bratt,
recording secretary. Install-
ing officer was Lucy Gersten,
past president BBWC and
current chairperson BBW
East Central Region. Also in-
stalled were Davya Cohen
and Kathy Rissman Lowen-
thal, vice presidents in
absentia.

Maimonides
Installs Officers

- The Women of Maimonides
Medical Society held its in-
stallation luncheon at
Knollwood Country Club.
Cantor Gail Hirshenfang and
accompanist Gale Kramer
presented songs.
Patti Phillips, past presi-
dent, installed the following
officers: president, Sharon
Daitch; president elect, Linda
Sahn; financial secretary,
Sandy Zeskind; treasurer,
Sue Adler; recording
secretary, Fran Herman; new
membership, Ann Benderoff.

Child Rescue
Sets Luncheon

Northwest Child Rescue,
Senior Group, will hold their
installation luncheon noon
June 27 at the Knob Woods
Clubhouse. There is a charge.
The officers to be installed
for 1991-1992 are: president,
Zelda Kay; vice president,
Helen Rice; treasurer, Edith
Pam; secretaries, Tillie Sher-
man, Mary Trager, Hannah
Foreman, Cele Goodman,
Nancy Kolar and Yetta
Weiner.

Hanita Chapter
Hears Rabbi

Hanita Israel Chapter of
Na'amat USA will hold a
meeting 12:30 p.m. June 25 in
the Crown Pointe building.
Rabbi Ernst Conrad of Tem-
ple Kol Ami will speak on the
Problems of the Olim in
Israel. There will be refresh-
ments.

Capt. Orde Wingate, the
British officer who organized
and trained the Hagana into
a disciplined self-defense
force during the 1930s, was
nicknamed Hayedid ("The
Friend") by the members of
the Yishuv.
