Memorial Benefit Softball
Game will be played 2 p.m.
June 29 at the Southfield
Civic Center. Detroit media
celebrities will "pitch" in to
benefit the American Cancer
Society. Free admission.
Pre-Fireworks Entertain-
ment Featuring "Liberty"
will be 4-10 p.m. June 29 on
the Southfield Civic Center
front lawn.
Southfield's Spectacular
Fireworks display will be
10:15-11 p.m. June 29 on the
Civic Center front lawn.
Southfield's Biggest
Neighborhood Picnic is set for
10 a.m.-6 p.m. June 30 on the
Southfield Civic Center front
lawn. Events will include a
mud obstacle course, beach
ball bop and team squeeze.
The day will also feature
music on the Main Stage,
kids' stage entertainment,
Southfield Cable 8/Uncle
Drew Parade, carnival rides,
food booths, a controlled
refreshment area serving
beer and wine coolers, and an
appearance by Glenn Haege,
the home improvement ex-
pert from radio station
WXYT (1-4 p.m.). The Civic
Center pool will open to
Southfield residents at no
charge.
A '50s Dance will be held
6-9 p.m. June 30 in the
Southfield Civic Center
Pavilion. There is a charge.
The First Michigan Col-
onial Fife and Drum Corps
will perform 7-8 p.m. July 3 in
the Burgh Gazebo, Historical
Burgh Site. Refreshments
will be available and there
will be free children's
activities.
A Southfield Splash Bash
and. Barbecue will be 1-7 p.m.
July 4 at the Civic Center
and Beech Woods (22200
Beech Road) pools. Southfield
residents can cool off for free.
Food will be available.

Library Hosts
Jazz Concerts

The Bloomfield Township
Public Library will host Jazz
In July, a two-part series of
classic and modern jazz by
some of the people who do it
best: Harold McKinney &
Combo, appearing July 14 at
2 p.m., and Peter Madcat,
Ruth & Shari Kane, 2 p.m.
July 21 on the library
grounds.
Admission is free to both
concerts. Refreshments will
be available; lawn chairs or
blankets are recommended.

The Compri Hotel is a wonderful place to
send your guests. It'll make them feel
comfortable and important. Especially with
everything they'll enjoy at the Compri Club.
Like a hosted Director's Reception, late
