DSO Season
At Meadow Brook

Detroit Symphony Or-
chestra Hall is planning the
28th season in residence at
the summer Meadow Brook
Music Festival. The seven-
week fifteen-concert series
will begin June 14-Aug. 11,
with an additional July 4
Celebration concert and
fireworks.
DSO music director Neeme
Jarvi will lead the Orchestra
in two weeks of concerts, and
guests will include conductors
James DePreist and Mitch
Miller, and a special conduc-
ting and vocal appearance by
Bobby McFerrin.
In addition, noted Civil War
historian Shelby Foote will
narrate Copland's Lincoln
Portrait, and the season will
end with DSO associate con-
ductor Leslie B. Dunner
leading the Orchestra in two
performances with stars of
the New York City Ballet and
the American Ballet Theatre.

Watercolor Exhibit

The 45th annual Michigan
Watercolor Exhibition spon-
sored by the Michigan Water
Color Society will be on
display at the Detroit Artists
Market: 1452 Randolph,
through May 24.
Seventy-seven paintings
representing 67 artists
throughout the state will be
on exhibition. Beginning in
June nearly half the work
will form a traveling exhibi-
tion to seven art centers in
Michigan.
The exhibition is free and
open to the public. Nearly all
of the paintings are for sale.
