Ecumenical Council for
Jewish Christian Studies,

Sidney Resnick

Women Of JNF
Host Musical

The women of Jewish Na-
tional Fund will hold their
spring meeting at Temple
Emanu-El noon March 19.
Sidney Resnick, baritone,
and Lillian Zellman, pianist,
will present "The Magic of
Music."
Mr. Resnick is a native of
Detroit and an honors
graduate of Wayne State
University. He studied voice
with Max Levy and Avery
Crew. His first operatic ex-
perience was with the Detroit
Friends of Opera, directed by
Julius Chajes, and he later
appeared in three Temple
Israel operatic productions.
He had a major role in the
award-winning television pro-
duction of the opera, Isaac
Levi.
For more than 20 years, Mr.
Resnick was baritone soloist
at Adat Shalom Synagogue,
Temple Israel and Thmple Kol
Ami. Since 1980, he has been
cantor at Congregation Beth
El in Windsor.
Ms. Zellman holds a
bachelor of music degree from
the Detroit Institute of
Musical Art, and taught
piano for many years. She was
vocal accompanist with the
Detroit Board of Education
for 12 years, and directed con-
secration services at several
area synagogues. Since retir-
ing from the school board, she
has been actively involved in
holiday and special programs
at the Jimmy Prentis Morris
Jewish Community Center.
Also included in the day's
program will be an update on
conditions in Israel, given by
Ed Rosenthal, regional direc-
tor of LINE
The invocation will be
delivered by Sadie Goren.
Shirley Kraft, vice president
of fundraising, will report on
the success of the donor. Doris
Markel is president and Bess
Axelrod is vice president of
programming. Refreshments
will be served. Admission is
free.
