as class treasurer from his
1956 yearbook.
Many of his high school
buddies attended the event
including: Larry Coggan,

Harvey Yates, Steve
Coden and Marty Zide.
The group reminisced before
the show about their high
school club, the Rajahs.
Some of Mr. Shaye's female
friends from the olden days
came to the premiere, in-
cluding: Harriet Rotter,
Harriet Dunsky and
Bunny Goldman. Of
course, they all claim they
are much younger than Mr.
Shaye.
Others spotted in the
crowd were: Hope Silver-
man, Carol Sue Coden,
Hilda Erman, Melvy
Lewis, Jay Adler, Richard
Shaye, Carol Rosenberg
and Missy and Kim
Steinberg.

PURIM OUTREACH
The sisterhood of Adat
Shalom Synagogue and the
Jewish Vocational Service
reached out to inner city
Jewish Detroiters at the an-
nual Sonia Knopper Purim
Outreach luncheon on Feb.
25 at the synagogue.
Some of the sisterhood
members on the planning
committee included: Elaine
Goldsmith, Trudy Weiss,
Linda O'Desky, Karen
Rosender, Shelly
Newman and Sharon
Lubetsky. Some of the JVS
members on hand were:
Bessie Chase, Bob Singer
and Gertie Gloimbuski,
Margaret Huppert and
Ann Mondrow.
Hillel Day School eighth
graders assisted in serving
the meal and keeping corn-
pany with the guests, many
of whom live in Detroit's
nursing homes. Cantor
Larry Vieder presented a
musical program, accom-
panied by Rochelle
Lupovich. Youngsters from
the nursery school enter-
tained the audience.

FASHION DILEMMA

Detroit fashion mavens
will have to make a difficult
decision for Tuesday, March
19. Two great fashion shows
will be presented on that day,
one benefiting Maimonides
Medical Society and the other
for Detroit Symphony Or-
chestra Hall.
For fashion aficionados
who want to attend both
events, there is a patron and
benefactor preview party for
the DSOH on Monday eve-
ning at Saks Fifth Avenue,
Troy. Guests can then go to
the Maimonides benefit on
Tuesday. ❑
