have gone up steeply since the
mid-60's for two basic reasons.
First, the number of new hous-
ing units built each year was far
below that which it should have
been. Since there is a steady
growth in population, this puts
pressure on our housing reserves
and prices rise.
Second, there have been infla-
tionary increases in land, labor
and material costs that go into
building a house. Historically,

creased faster than the cost of
living.

calls of dances of the 30s and
40s as well as 19th century
jigs and reels.

The newly formed executive
board proposed a social func-
tion for members only once
every two months and mem-
bership drives and socials
open to the public on the
alternate months. The pur-
pose of the group is to provide
a place for single persons 40
and over to work together for
a common goal, raising
monies for the City of Hope.
