Two Plays
At Meadow Brook

Neil Simon's Barefoot in the
Park opened a four-week run
at Meadow Brook Theatre on
the campus of Oakland
University near Rochester.
Barefoot in the Park is about
the adventures of a pair of
newlyweds setting up house-
keeping in an antiquated
New York apartment. Only
six days married, Paul Brat-
ter, a proper young lawyer,
and his free-spirited wife, Cor-
ie, discover love alone won't
keep them warm when they
move into their cramped five
story walk-up. The heat is off,
the furniture hasn't been
delivered (not even the bed)
and before long snow is fall-
ing through a gaping hole in
the skylight.
More complications arise
when their kooky attic
neighbor, Victor Velasco, who
has a penchant for ouzo,
meets Corie's lonely pill-
popping mother. After a mad-
cap trip for "gourmet" eats on
Staten Island, this unlikely
couple develop their own zany
friendship.
Sleuth will replace Inherit
the Wind in the Mar. 26-Apr.
21 slot at the professional
theater at Oakland
University.
Anthony Shaffer's Sleuth
received a Tony for its Broad-
way production and was made
into an Academy Award-
winning movie starring
Laurence Olivier and
Michael Caine.
