Olin-Sang, Ruby Union
Institute, located in
Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, is a
co-ed, Jewish style camp
geared for 8-16 year olds. In
existence for 38 years, the
program concentrates on
Jewish education and the
Hebrew language. More than
25 rabbis serve on the facul-
ty, and horseback riding, sail-
ing, tennis, media and dance
are also offered.
There are two, three, four
and seven-week sessions. The
camp is accredited by the
American Camping
Association.
Fees range from $670 for
the two-week session, to
$1950 for the seven-week
session.

Swig Camp Institute,
located in Saratoga, Califor-
nia, has been in existence for
38 years and offers a full
Jewish program along with
sports, music, dance and
drama. Offered for co-eds 8-17
years of age, and there are
one, two and three-week ses-
sions. A three-week teen
camp is open to 11th and 12th
graders, where teens
backpack, rock climb and
hike around California and
return each Friday evening
for Shabbat. Meals are
Jewish style.
Tuition ranges from $475
for a one-week session, to
$1170 for a three-week pro-
gram and $1450 for the teen
camp.

JEWISH APPEAL
SPONSORED CAMPS
B'nai B'rith Perlman,

located in the Pocono Moun-
tains in Starlight, Penn-
sylvania, offers three, four or
seven-week sessions for boys
and girls from the ages of
8-16. There is an emphasis on
outdoor sports in a creative
Jewish environment, and
they follow the strictly kosher
dietary laws. Daily activities
include tennis, soccer, drama,
arts and crafts, music, nature
living and pioneering.
Fees range from $1200 to
$2500.

Bronx House-Emanuel,
in Copake, New York, offers
three, six or nine-week ses-
sions for boys and girls 7-15

years old. Water sports, canoe
trips, tennis, music and dance

$2390, with a sliding scale.

Camp Dora Golding, of-
fers a program for boys ages
8-16 in East Stroudsburg,
Pennsylvania, in the Pocono
Mountains, and a program for
girls ages 8-16 at Suffern,
New York. Both camps offer
an Orthodox/Yeshiva orienta-
tion, with daily study periods
and outdoor sports. Four and
eight-week sessions are of-
fered, with glatt kosher
dietary laws.
Fees are $1250 a session.

Capital Camps, located in
Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, in
the Catoctin Mountains near
Gettysburg, offers two four-
week sessions for boys and
girls 8-16 years old. Campers
can participate in sports,
photography, journalism,
karate and video production,
along with Judaic studies. All
the meals are kosher, and the
camp is accredited by the
American Camping
Association.
Tuition is $1495 for four-
week sessions.

UNITED SYNAGOGUE
OF AMERICA
USY On Wheels, spon-

sored by the United
Synagogue of Conservative
Judaism, offers North
American Travel Programs. A
45-day trip is offered for cur-
rent 9-11th graders. Via bus,
campers, travel from New
York to California, residing in
either hotels or homes of local
congregants. The itinerary in-
cludes stops in Atlanta, New
Orleans, Denver, and the
Grand Canyon. The cost is
$3195.
A 33-day trip up and down
the East Coast, including
stops in Washington, DC,
Charleston, South Carolina
and Orlando, Florida, is of-
fered for $2450.
A six-week USY Israel
Pilgrimage is also available
for 15 to 181/2 year olds, and
the cost is $3535, which in-
cludes room, board, airfare
and sightseeing tours.
