CHANUKAH

And The Winner Is ...

esley Brodsky Serri of Walled Lake is a
fledgling artist and entymologist (a person
who studies bugs). She is a 7-year-old
second grader at Scotch Elementary in West
Bloomfield and attends Hebrew school at
Congregation B'nai Israel of West Bloomfield.
Her mother is Joyce Brodsky Serri.
Although Lesley has never won a contest
before, one of her kindergarten paintings hangs
at the Jewish Community Center. She has drawn
for many years in her personal journal. In her
grand prize winning entry, which adorns the
front page of today's
Jewish News, Lesley drew
herself as the youngster
with the shammas candle
in the lower right corner.
Lesley's winning entry
was selected from 184
submissions: 49 in the 6
and under category, 81
from 7-10 year olds, 47
from 10-12 year olds, and
seven from artists aged
13-15.
