ALYN Hospital
Hosts Rabbi

The newly formed Detroit
Friends of ALYN Hospital
will have a parlor meeting
7:30 p.m. Nov. 29 at the home
of Steven and Arlene Victor.
Rabbi Chuck Diamond,
education/youth director of
Congregation Shaarey Zedek,
will speak of his visits to
ALYN with youth groups.
Rabbi Diamond, a native of
Pittsburgh, received B.A. and

M.S. degrees at Carnegie
Mellon University. He was or-
dained at the Jewish
Theological Seminary of
America. He served as direc-
tor of Hebrew high school and
youth activities and assistant
Rabbi at Temple Israel of
Great Neck, N.Y., before com-
ing to Shaarey Zedek. In ad-
dition he worked from 1977 to
1989 at Camp Ramah in
Canada.
ALYN Hospital is Israel's
only long-term orthopedic
hospital and rehabilitation
center for physically han-
dicapped children. A non-
sectarian facility, it was
founded over 50 years ago by
New Yorker Dr. Henry Keller.

AJC Hosts
Theater Evening

The Detroit Chapter of the
American Jewish Committee
will host a theater evening 8
p.m. Nov. 14 at the Birm-
ingham Theatre. The play
Beau Jest is a comedy which
explores the Jewish family.
Issues raised in the play in-
clude family love, guilt,
responsibility and once again,
the possibility of inter-
marriage.
Following the play, an
afterglow will be offered to
discuss the play with the cast.
There /is a charge and the
evening's proceeds will go to
continue AJC's work on
behalf of improving relations
for Jews and non-Jews in
America and abroad.
