Names Chairman
Laurence Smith has been
named chair of the 1991
Jewish Community Associa-
tion/United Jewish Appeal
campaign in Ann Arbor to
raise $440,000 to aid Jews
around the world.
Mr. Smith, vice president
for University Marketing and
Student Affairs at Eastern
Michigan University, also
served as chairman of the
recently completed JCA/UJA-
sponsored local Operation Ex-
odus campaign, part of an in-
ternational effort to provide
funds specifically for Soviet
Jews emigrating to Israel.
The Washtenaw County
Operation Exodus campaign
raised over $398,000, ex-
ceeding its goal of $380,000 in
pledges.
Sue Rebner and Paul
Lichter have been named
associate chairs for the 1991
campaign.
The JCA/UJA is the
Washtenaw County branch of
the national United Jewish
Appeal. The majority of
regular campaign monies go
to Israel to support immigra-
