Despite this good fortune,
the road has not been com-
pletely smooth. Rossman
has had several run-ins with
the law. Several years ago he
was busted for drug posses-
sion, and last December 19
he was arrested for trying to
scalp Rolling Stones tickets.
During the arrest, police
found a small amount of co-
caine on him and in a plea
bargain, the ticket scalping
was dropped. He pleaded
guilty to the drug rap.
Rossman cringes at the
circumstances surrounding
his recent arrest. "Look, I
buy two tickets, my own two
tickets, for $150 apiece," he
said. "The night of the con-
cert I don't feel like going. I
hit the boardwalk and I'm
going to dump them, I'm go-
ing to get rid of them. This is
the American way, buy low,
sell high. Well, bing-bang-
boom, I'm looking at these
two guys and they're cops. I
walk away and they grab
me. If I had wanted to scalp
I would have bought five or
six tickets."
In the spring, Rossman,
already on probation for his
previous arrest, was fined
$1,000 and sentenced to 364
days in jail, to be served on
weekends. He was also or-
dered by Superior Court
Judge Louis Hornstine to
pay a $1,000 drug enforce-
ment demand reduction
penalty.
The once mighty "Jewish
Bomber" has suffered
through one divorce, and is
separated from his second
wife. But through it all, the
fighter remains upbeat.
Referring to the fact that
he exited boxing virtually
unscathed physically and
mentally, Rossman said,
"I'm still young. I can still
pick up a date."
