THINK ROSH HASHANAH SPECIALS

SUNDAY, SEPT. 23rd THROUGH WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 27th

on a lightly floured dough
cloth into 1/8" thickness.
Coat dough with franzipan
mix. Cover dough with
crushed hazelnuts, raisins
and cinnamon sugar to your
preference. Then roll all in-
gredients lightly with a roll-
ing pin to incorporate it into
the dough. Cut dough
lengthwise with a pizza cutter
in 21/2" width strips. Each
strip will then be rolled like
a jelly roll. Then cut each
strip into %" cookies. Brush
lightly with egg and sprinkle
with cinnamon sugar. Bake in
a 375 degree oven until light-
ly brown.

CHERRY CHEESE PIE
19-inch graham cracker
pie crust
8 ozs. cream cheese
1/2 pint whipping cream
(whip until stiff with
1 tsp. sugar)
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 can cherry pie filling
Cream the cheese, vanilla
and sugar. Fold in whipped
cream. Pour into pie shell. Let
set and chill for an hour. Pour
cherries onto the middle of
the pie.

CHOCOLATE-DIPPED
STRAWBERRIES
3 squares (3 ounces)
semisweet chocolate,
coarsely chopped
1 tablespoon unsalted
butter
1 teaspoon orange
liqueur
18 strawberries,
unhulled, with stem if
possible
Combine chocolate, butter,
and orange liqueur in a small
custard cup or saucepan and
set in a pan of hot water over
low heat. Stir frequently un-
til chocolate is melted. Re-
move from heat.
Line a baking sheet with
waxed paper. Dip a straw-
berry halfway into chocolate
and place it on prepared
sheet. Repeat with remaining
berries. Refrigerate until set
(about 10 minutes). If you're
not planning on using the
dipped berries immediately,
cover and store in a cool place
for up to 1 day. (Don't store
them in the refrigerator, how-
ever, because the chocolate
will develop a pale, gray color
known as "bloom!' The choco-
late will be okay to eat, but
looks unappealing.) Yield: 18
chocolate-dipped strawber-
ries.
