The Conservative Rabbis of
Metropolitan Detroit, in con-
junction with the Agency for
Jewish Education, have an-
nounced the formation of the
Rabbinic Seminar, a study
group for high school
students who wish to use
their Hebrew skills in a week-
ly learning experience with
six local rabbis and educators.
The teens will read and
discuss classical Jewish texts,
including the Bible, the
Midrash and the'Ihlmud. The
course has been designed for
graduates of Hillel Day
School and other teenagers
who are able to read and com-
prehend texts in the original
language.
Classes will run from 4-5:30
p.m. on Thursdays beginning
Oct. 18. The fall semester will
be held at Hillel Day School.
Seminar instructors will be:
Rabbi Bruce Aft of the Agen-
cy for Jewish Education, Rab-
bi Martin Berman of Con-
gregation Beth Achim, Rab-
bis Chuck Diamond and Bill
Gershon of Congregation
Shaarey Zedek, Rabbi Elliot
Pachter of Adat Shalom
Synagogue, and Dr. Mark
Smiley of Hillel Day School.
There is a $200 fee for the
year long program. Studies
are available for those teens
who are also enrolled in
another Jewish study
program.
For information, call Rabbi
Gershon, 357-5544; or Rabbi
Pachter, 851-5100.
