Leonid Hambro studied at
the Juilliard School of Music
where he was later appointed
to its faculty. After winning
the Naumberg Award in
1946, Mr. Hambro was desig-
nated the official pianist with
the New York Philharmonic
Orchestra and was retained
as staff pianist of the New
York Times radio station
WQXR where he gave week-
ly live chamber and solo
recitals for fifteen years.
Leonid Hambro is the head
of the Piano Department of
the Music School of the
California Institute of the
Arts and has a weekly radio
series "At The Piano With
Leonid Hambro," which was
awarded first prize in the
1981 Ohio State Awards for
excellence in radio and TV
programming.
