"We Are Put On
This Planet
Not To See Through
Each Other. But Rather,
To See Each Other
Through,"

-Rabbi Dannel I. Schwartz-

Seeing people through is what Temple Shir Shalom
is all about. By combining the spirituality of the
centuries and the practicality of the present, we
make people feel at home. In the two years since
our inception, we've grown from 30 families to
almost 600. We believe that a miracle like that isn't
just because of mazel we feel that it comes from
our ability to make each and every member of our
congregation feel that we need them to be part of
our family...because we do need them!

Whether you have lived in Detroit all of your life or
just arrived. Single, married, divorced. Young or
young at heart. Blended family, convert,
intermarried. You are a treasured member of our
family.

We listened to our parents and that's why we
created a once-a-week Hebrew School...so that
learning Hebrew can be a pleasure, not a pain. We
listened to our children when they told us they
wanted their Bar and Bat Mitzvah to be more
individualized. That's why at Temple Shir Shalom
there will be no double Bar or Bat Mitzvahs on a
Shabbat...we believe each and every one of our
children deserve their own special day. We
listened to our membership and created programs
for the intermarried, for the Over 40-Something
set, and for Prime Timers (over 68). We created
our own prayerbook for the entire congregation.

through. No matter who you are and no matter
what you do.

Be a pioneer. Get in on the ground floor of a
synagogue that is unique. Unique because we
listen. And we listen so we can see each other

For membership information,

Experience the warmth of Shabbat, the beauty of
the High Holy Days, the wonder of Hanukkah, and
the magic of Temple Shir Shalom. And most of all,
experience our unique ability to see you through.

We are planning a move to our new building which
will be located on the Southeast corner of Orchard
Lake and Walnut Lake Roads. Help us build a
lovely future together...so we can see each other
through!
