Operation Exodus

Two Operation Exodus
phonathons — June 24 and 26
— netted $530,489 for the
rescue and resettlement of
Soviet Jews in Israel. The
phonathons were geared for
contributors of $1,000 to
$4,999.
The on-going campaign got
a boost as the proceeds from
a lemonade stand operated by

The Huntington Woods Mi-
nyan will host an art show
and sale 1 p.m. July 22 at the
home of Avraham Leaf of
Tiferet Galleries.
The works of more than 17
artists, including Dubi Arie,
Baruch Nachshon and Moshe
Castel, will be presented.

Exodus Campaign
Names Smith

Laurence Smith has been
appointed the chair of the
Ann Arbor Operation Exodus
campaign to raise money to
settle the Soviet Jews in
Israel.
Smith is vice president for
University Marketing and
Student Affairs at Eastern
Michigan University. He has
appointed the following steer-
ing committee members:
Susan Ayer, Barbara
Bergman, Jesse Bernstein,
Stanton Elias, Sheila
Feigelson, Liz Fried, Bob
Hern, Jerold Lax, Carolyn
Lichter, Nancy Margolis,

youngsters will operate the
stand each Sunday in their
Birmingham neighborhood
through July.

Children in the community
are receiving Operation Ex-
odus tzedaka boxes this sum-
mer. The boxes are being
distributed to Jewish summer
camps, to elementary-age
children and to participants
in Jewish Experiences For
Families (J.E.F.F.).

JFS Offers
Support Groups

Jewish Family Service will
start two support group ses-
sions beginning August 1.
Both groups will be conducted
by Marilyn Hertzberg and
Marilyn Wineman.

"Do I Have the Empty Nest
Syndrome?" and "Grand-
parents of Single Parent
Families" will meet 1:30 p.m.
Wednesdays for 10 weeks.

Both groups will meet at
Jewish Family Service. There
is a charge. For information,
call Marilyn Hertzberg,
