years. Haar served as presi-
dent of both Congregation
Beth Hillel and Beth
Abraham, and played a role
in the merger of the three
synagogues.
Haar was honored by the
State of Israel in 1973 for his
life-long efforts on behalf of
Israel Bonds. He and his late
wife have been actively in-
volved in many Jewish
organizations. Haar was a
charter board member of the
Holocaust Center, and he and
the late Mrs. Haar were sup-
porters of ORT, Hillel Day
School, Shaare Zedek
Hospital in Israel and
Hadassah.
Joining Haar at the dedica-
tion will be his daughters and
sons-in-law, Hannah and Jef-
frey Garton, Ellen and Sidney
Glenn, his grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.
B'nai Moshe
Installs Officers
Rabbi Allan Meyerowitz
will install newly elected of-
ficers and board members
during the final Shabbat ser-
vice held in the Oak Park
sanctuary June 23. The ser-
mon topic will be "Memories
of the Future?'
Sharlene Ungar, re-elected
president, will address the
congregants on the "Signifi-
cance of Farewell." All atten-
ding past presidents also will
be honored.
A family luncheon and
memories program will follow
services, featuring storyteller
Corinne Stavish with "Tales
of Yesteryear and Today;"
past president Robert Roth
with "A Link To The Past;"
Cantor Louis Klein with a

musical interlude; and Rabbi
Meyerowitz with a talk "On-
ward Toward The Future."
Matthew Borovoy will be
master of ceremonies.
New officers are: vice
presidents Leonard Grey,
Melvyn Friedman and Ed-
ward Klarman; treasurer
Rena Tobes; secretaries
Pearlena Bodzin and Marc
Borovoy.
Elected for three-year terms
to the board of directors are:
Steven Fine, Renee Gunsberg,
Melvin Hersh, Jerome Hor-
witz, Marjorie Lazarus, Alan
Levenson, Charles Ruben,
Donald Sachs, Joel Ungar
and Leonard Wanetik.
Beginning in July, B'nai
Moshe will hold Shabbat and
holiday services at the Maple-
Drake Jewish Community
Center. Weekday morning
and evening services will con-
tinue to be held in Oak Park
at Thmple Emanu-El, until
the High Holy Days.
Temple Israel
Honors Syme
Ibmple Israel will honor
Rabbi M. Robert Syme at Sab-
bath services 8 p.m. June 15.
His sons, Rabbi Daniel B.
Rabbi Syme
Syme, vice president of the
UAHC, and David Syme, con-
cert pianist, will pay a special
tribute to their father.
Rabbi Syme has served as a
rabbi of Thmple Israel since
1953.
Adat Shalom
Honors Vieder
Adat Shalom Synagogue
will honor Cantor Larry
Vieder for 30 years of service
to the congregation at a din-
ner Oct. 21.
A native of Czechoslovakia,
Cantor Vieder came to Adat
Shalom in 1960 as Associate
Cantor and Torah reader and
became synagogue cantor in
1974. He has sung with Euro-
pean cantors and has played
active roles in the Cantors
Assembly, the Detroit Can-
tors Council, and the Cantors
Institute of The Jewish
