JWF Hosts
Israel Tours

Israel tourism is up, and the
Jewish Welfare Federation is
making plans to send a record
number of people to Israel
this summer, says Dr. Richard
Krugel, Allied Jewish Cam-
paign missions chairman.
"We have missions for
everyone, young and old,
families, singles and couples?'
In addition to witnessing
the impact of Soviet immigra-
tion first-hand, mission par-
ticipants will visit Yavne,
Detroit's Project Renewal
sister city in Israel.
The first mission informa-
tion meeting is set for 7:30
p.m. April 30 at the United
Hebrew Schools to meet with
previous mission participants
and discuss itineraries, meals
and accommodations.
Three trips are scheduled
for families: June 24-July 4,
July 8-18 and August 12-22.
Family missions provide an
opportunity for parents to
share the Israel experience
with their children and
grandchildren. Participants
will take part in a group
bar/bat mitzvah, tour the
Galilee and celebrate Shab-
bat at the Western Wall.
Detroiter Richard Blumens-
tein is campaign chairman of
the UJA National Singles
Mission to Israel, July 1-11.
Gilbert Borman and Robert
Colburn will lead local par-
ticipants. A second singles
mission is available July
15-25.
In addition to meeting some
300 young singles from across
the U.S., the group will see
the country, meet with its
people and participate in a
variety of social and cultural
activities.
The "Morasha" Young
Leadership Cabinet Mission
will take place Oct. 21-30. It
offers an opportunity for
those who are developing a
role in the community to
enhance their knowledge and
commitment through a
special Israel experience. Dr.
Owen Z. Perlman is national
chairman, and Susan E.
Alterman will lead local
participants.
