Some 165 Bowlers from the
Metropolitan Detroit B'nai
B'rith Men's bowling Associa-
tion's nine leagues are
entered in the International
B'nai B'rith Bowling Associa-
tion's sectional tournaments,
held at four sites next month.
Six Detroit teams will go to
Atlantic City on March 10-11;
nine teams to Toledo, Ohio,
March 17-18; 17 teams to
Hamilton, Ontario, March
24-25; and one to Phoenix,
Ariz.
One of the teams going to
Atlantic City will have three
female bowlers — the first
time women bowlers from the
Detroit area have par-
ticipated in these
tournaments.
The Levin Family team,
captained by Sy Zate, a
Detroit Association vice-
president, is composed of
Barry Zate, his son; Dolores
Fox, his sister; Kelly Van
Meter, Fox's daughter; and
Arlene Gurecki, their cousin.
Sy Zate Bowls in the
Downtown-Fox League, while
the others in the Mix and
Match League.
In all, more than 1,000
bowlers from B'nai B'rith
leagues across the United
States and Canada will
participate.

Detroit's first "Friends for
Life" event, a three-hour
fitness workout benefitting
the City of Hope National
Medical Center, will be led by
fitness professional Andrea
Bernstein and other area ex-
ercise pros.
Aerobic sessions will begin
at 9 a.m. March 31 at the
Somerset Inn in Troy.
Bernstein, a licensed prac-
tical nurse at Sinai Hospital,
is co-owner of Fitnesse Exer-
cise Co. of Birmingham and
Farmington Hills. Other in-
structors will include Gail
Mondry of Fitnesse and
Debra Feldman of Fourth
Street Body Works.
Participants will raise
funds by obtaining sponsors.
