Sheri Brown, 40, of Bloom-
field Hills raised over
$13,000 for the Multiple
Sclerosis Society when she
competed in the Detroit Free
Press Marathon in October.
It was her first marathon.
Brown, mother of four,
solicited contributions for

marathon" by telephone and
mail.
She finished the run in
four hours, 39 minutes, 39
seconds with the help of Dr.
Marvin Aronovitz, who
coached her through the last
13 miles of the 26.2-mile
race.

Lori Penner, 21, narrowly
missed a perfect game when
she rolled 11 consecutive
strikes for a 279 to lead the
Galilee Tuesday League of
the B'nai B'rith Women's
Bowling Association. She
notched a high series of 597.

Jewish Congress
Seeks Survivors

New york — The Australian
government has requested
the assistance of the World
Jewish Congress for a war
crimes investigation it is con-
ducting into allegations of
murder committed by the
Ukrainian police in and
around the village of
Berezovka (Beresowka) dur-
ing World War II.
The murders were commit-
ted during the period 1941 to
1943. The village of
Berezovka is located in the
Ustinovsky district,
Kirovograd region of the
eastern part of the Ukraine.
Other villages and cities in-
clude Krivoy Rog, Novo Bug,
Bobrinets, Novo Petrovky,
Kovalevka and Ustinovka. To
aid in this investigation, they
are seeking survivors who liv-
ed in any of these locations
before or during the war.
If you are a survivor of one
of these locales or have infor-
mation relevant to the ac-
tivities of the Ukrainian
police in these specific towns
and villages, please write to
