makes you more
marketable."
Shapero said her parents
are supportive of her desire
to be a professional dancer.
"My parents traipsed me
back and forth to the Royal
Oak studio for 13 years. To
this very day, my mother
and I stay up until the wee
hours of the morning pinn-
ing costumes, sewing and
repinning. I began as a tiny
pink-eared mouse at my first
recital. I'll soon be rewarded
with the part of Clara (The
Nutcracker)." Of the nearly
50 shows in which Shapero
has performed — from Cop-
peliato last year's A Mid-
summer Night's Dream
when she starred as Puck,
dancing with the Contem-
porary Civic Ballet Corn-
, pany — she said each of her
roles is a progression toward
Broadway.
Some day, she would like
to leave 15 Mile Road in
West Bloomfield and settle
somewhere north of 42nd
Street in New York, joining
her sister, Alyson, who re-
cently moved there to work
for CBS Records.
"I want to live in New
York," she said. "It would be
a major goal if I could hit
Broadway." ❑
