the Jewish Welfare Federa-
tion Women's Division's 42nd
Annual Institute Nov. 1-2 at
Congregation Shaarey Zedek.
Political consultant Dr.
Ellen Cannon will address
current and future concerns
for today's Jewish woman
during the two-day series.
"Empowering Jewish
Women" will be the evening
discussion Nov. 1. "Organiz-
ing for Social Change, Jewish
Issues for the '90s," will be
the focus of the Nov. 2
program.
Respected for her research
on Jewish feminism and
politics, religion and the
Holocaust, Dr. Cannon was
recently appointed to the ex-
ecutive board of the Interna-
tional Jewish Women's
Network.
A political commentator
and producer for National
Public Radio, she is a pro-
fessor of political science at
Northeastern Illinois and
Roosevelt universities, as well
as a lecturer at the Dawn
