Edith Bates Linderman, a
teacher in the Detroit Public
Schools for more than 30
years, died Sept. 21. She war
82.
Mrs. Linderman earned her
master's degree in English
literature from Wayne State
University when she was in
her 50's.
She taught at Henry Ford
and Mumford high schools.
She was active with the Labor
Zionist Organization.
She published a book of
poems and was named Poet
Laurete of the Detroit
Teachers. She leaves a son,
Leon of Birmingham; a
daughter, Debora of
Massachusetts; a brother and
sister-in-law, Milton and
Marion Bates of Oak Park;
two sisters and brother-in-
law, Esther Levy of Southfield
and Ann and Sid Linn of Oak
Park.

Seymour Kaplan, 74, of
Boca Raton, Fla., co-owner of
Kaplan Brothers Kosher
Meats of Detroit, and retired
commercial and industrial
realtor, died Sept. 12.
He was a patron of the arts,
a collector and violinist. He
was a life member of the 32nd
Masonic Order and the
Shriners. He was an active
member and officer of B'nai
B'rith.
He is survived by his wife;
