Ruth and William Shulak
of Southfield are thrilled to
celebrate their 60th wedding
anniversary with their fami-
ly and friends. The Shulaks
were married in Detroit on
September 29, 1929. They
have been charter members of
Adat Shalom Synagogue
since 1945.
For 32 years, Mr. Shulak
and his partner owned an in-
dustrial laundry service in
Hamtramck.
The couple's children, Ken-
neth and Eve Shulak, Fredric
Shulak, and Carl Shulak and
Corinne Shulak Schwartz
will be celebrating the happy
occasion along with the
Shulak's eight grandchildren,
eight great-grandchildren
and friends at a luncheon par-
ty at Excalibur Restaurant.

The Charles Shapiro Post
and Auxiliary of the Jewish
War Veterans will kick off the
1989-90 year with a combin-
ed post and auxiliary dinner
meeting on Tuesday, 6:30 p.m.
at the Jewish War Veterans'
Memorial Home. A discussion
of the year's events will be on
the agenda.

Schwartz Is Named
Veteran Of Year
Jack Schwartz was named
veteran of the year for the
state of Michigan at
ceremonies at the Michigan
State Fair.
Schwartz is president of the
Joint Memorial Day Associa-
tion of Wayne County. In Ju-
ly, the AMVETS Department
of Michigan presented the
Finley Gutrie Brotherhood
Award to Schwartz for "his
outstanding contribution to
brotherhood." He is senior
vice commander of AMVETS
Post 77.
He also received the 1989
Brotherhood Award from the
Department of Michigan
Jewish War Veterans.
Schwartz has given 42 years
of service to the Jewish War
Veterans. He served as state
commander and four terms as
a member of the national ex-
ecutive committee. He is cur-
rently chief-of-staff and ad-
viser to Department Com-
mander Ely Katz. He is active
with Detroit Silverman Post
