OPHTHALMOLOGY
ASSOCIATES, P.C.

proudly announces the association of

Her most enjoyable
experiences in Detroit
have been teaching
English to the foreign
born. Collens says her
work with this group
makes her no longer feel
as an outsider in the
Detroit community. "The
students are not students.
We are friends."

TIDBITS

THE BEATLES

A "Detroit connection" for
the nostalgic Dezo
Hoffman photographic
exhibit, "The Beatles:
Historic Images 1962-67",
which was recently at
Oakland Mall. Larry
Richard of Los Angeles,
president of BAS
International, coordinated
the exhibit's, tour across the
United States. He is a
Detroit native and is a
nephew of Marvin
Tamaroff. He visited
Detroit for the wedding of
his cousin, David
Katzman, to Cheryl
Brown. Richard, who
moved with his family to
L.A. at age 5, had the
sound system at Oakland
Mall exhibit installed by
another cousin, Rick
Howard, president of The
Grammophone.

SINGLES MYSTERY
"Whodunit" fans, Detroit
singles variety, had a ball
dressing up as 1920s and
30s flappers, gangsters and
detectives while trying to
solve the American Cancer
Society's Murder Mystery
Singles Event of The Year
at historic Cranbrook
House and Gardens.
Jonathan S. Schechter, in
"bad guy" black suit, shirt,
shoulder holster (plastic
pistol) and black hat with
wide, white band, won Best
Male Costume —
Authenticity. Alison Rubin
won the grand prize
drawing — a trip to Toronto
to see Phantom of the
Opera while Brenda
Brook won the door prize.
Seen at the scene: Michael
Lippitt, Jacki Miles,
Frank Snower, Michael
E. Harris and Fran Ross.

HOUSE CALLS
The Birmingham-
Bloomfield Symphony Guild
held a champagne preview
of their "Masterpiece
House." This spectacular
condominium displayed
skylights, expansive glass,
fireplaces and 10-foot
ceilings. The elegant

cherrywood columns and
cabinetry added to the
elegance of the decor.
Among those enjoying the
innovative designs were
Annette and Russell
Meskin, Arlene and Paul
Gould and Pearl and Sy
Manello.

STUDENT BIRTHDAY
Nira Lev's Hebrew class
recently planned the 90th
birthday party for colleague
Phillip "Dori" Halper at
Chuck Joseph's restaurant.
Halper has attended his
Hebrew class for the
Midrasha College of Jewish
studies for the last 17
years. Some of the
classmates who helped
Halper celebrate include:
Florence Gantz,
Magdalene Thirman,
Fayga Dombey, Mildred
Rosenbaum and Selma
Silverman. Lev noted that
not only is Halper a terrific
student but a wonderful
volunteer. "When I first
came here, he drove me to
the evening class. He has
the love of learning?'

CARTOON CRAZY
Carol and Skip Roberts
recently hosted a press
party for the preview of
Crazy for Cartoons, the
annual fundraising event
for the Detroit Artists
market, which includes an
exhibit and auction on
Sept. 15 in Harmonie Park.
The exhibit in the gallery
will be juried by Mary
Preston of the
Feigenson/Preston
Gallery.
